Makerspace Marble Runs
Next week we will start to code on Code.org. In preparation we did some unplugged activities suggested on Code.org. We discussed perseverance and debugging computer programs and translated it to designing our own homemade marble runs out of cardstock paper. A favorite video was this mouse trying to get a huge cracker, which led to use using the mantra "be the mouse" whenever frustrated with the marble runs.
Students started with 5 basic cardstock shapes to use in their marble runs.
They then combined pieces in many different combinations to create their own marble runs!
I told the students they can easily make these from home with any paper, including what is going to be thrown away or recycled. What a better way to recycle! One student made a big one at home and then brought it in to share. Nice work!
